Dear MMDians,
I see that it has been brought to your attention that the BAB march
"Genesse Patrol" is not the correct title for the tune. Ozzie Wurdeman
made a number of errors when he recut the BAB rolls because the writing
of the Italians behind BAB wasn't very legible. I will consider
correcting the titles of the BAB tunes, but I will not change the tune
title for Genesse Patrol.
There's a friend of mine over in Connecticut, Larry Villano, an even
bigger BAB fan than myself. Larry Villano is my authority on BAB and
he is well aware of the mislabeling of Genesse Patrol. But that doesn't
stop him from referring to it by its incorrect name. On many occasions
I have played different organs for him on the phone, usually playing my
favorite march. And I ask him "Which tune is this, Larry?" "Genesse
Patrol," he replies in an instant. Wurdeman's error has been an error
for so long a time that everyone knows Genesse Patrol by that name,
myself included. I wasn't around when the tune had the correct title,
so I grew to like "Genesse Patrol" by that name. While it might be the
historically accurate thing to do, I don't feel like changing the name
back to its original form. Heck, I like the sound of the current title
more than the old.
My recommendation is that those of you who can give a little leeway
help me keep this title as it is, simply by referring to it as you
always have. Those of you who wish to change the title are welcome to
do so by applying white-out to your CD label. The labels are printed
on porous paper, so it should receive white out very nicely.
In addition, there are a few orders for the first CDs that are trapped
in my busy week schedule. Please note that your orders have been
received and will be sent on the 22nd. along with the CDM-2 orders.
Warmest regards,
Marc Elbasani.
