Someone inquired recently about old illustrated mechanical music
catalogs from the 1970's. These are, of course, tremendous for
research and reference. We have maintained a complete set of catalogs
from Hatheway & Bowers, American International Galleries, Mekanisk Musik
Museum, MacKinnon, Mechanical Music Center, etc. Unfortunately, there
does not seem to be a strong interest in this reference material. We
usually have a stack of duplicates on hand, and typically have to sell
these for around $5 each. Personally I would value them at 3-4 times
that, but the market is the market. We even have a paperback edition
of the Bowers Encyclopedia, Volume II, from 1967-68, but that won't
sell for over $50. So this type of fairly recent material is most
definitely worth buying and maintaining, but it won't cost you a
fortune. Don't look for it on our Website book page though, we
regrettably haven't updated that (or the website) for several months
or more - too busy with other things.
