Steinway Cheek Blocks
By Spencer Chase

Steinway upright cheek blocks are removable. I removed them to reveneer
them without removing the keybed. It was not very easy. They are held
in place with several large screws from below the keybed and possibly
at odd angles from other places into the case sides etc. Removing the
legs will reveal the easiest ones to get to. If you can't slide the
blocks out, you still have some screws to find and remove. If the
blocks are to be removed you should secure the keybed while the blocks
are out.
