Hi Everyone, I haven't written in for a long time. However this little
item about player rolls and their current surge in price caught my eye.
I've collected and sold many different types of rolls over a period of
nearly 25 years. Specialty rolls such as "Picture Rolls, Red Paper
Welte, some types of Ampicos, Duo-Art, Deluxe, Empeco, Hupfeld, on and
on!
I personally have held a feeling that the value of all types of after-
market products such as player rolls, music box cylinders, all sizes of
music discs, book music, etc., are greatly underpriced. Furthermore,
the famous people who did all of those fabulous arrangements have been
forgotten. Therefore, "hooray" for the person who got the [silent
movie rolls]! Quite possibly, they now have something that otherwise
might have been lost forever, and they also are helping to set these
rolls up to their true value.
Many people don't have an appreciation for the music of a bygone era.
I feel the reason why AMICA and MBSI exist is to promote the collecting
of rolls and the music of the past.
