Lubricating Band Organ Connecting Rods
By Mike Kitner

In response to Howard Wyman's question about what to use to lubricate
wooden connecting rods in a band organ, I use tallow and graphite.

Melt the tallow in a little can and mix in enough graphite (use the
fine stuff) to add around 1/4 [more] to the bulk of the mixture. You
can rub it onto the inside of the holes in the wood with a toothbrush,
or warm it to re-melt and use an artists brush.
