This weekend I looked at a Seeburg photoplayer to restore It is not a
specific style. It appears to be combination a of a couple of models.
The original MSR roll frame was replaced with a PPC O-roll frame many years
ago. This conversion was far less than perfect. IMHO, The way that the
pipes are arranged and and interfaced with the piano, and with the overall
design and set up, The M-roll seems much better suited. I would like to
get some feedback on the availability of these rolls, if there are any
recuting projects on the near horizon and possibly trading the O-rolls that
are already with the instrument. These rolls were recuts done by PPC in the
early 70s.
BTW, I'm feeling very certain now that the expression "Bells & Whistles"
orginated with these things. The main bulk of the sound effect are just
an assortment of bells and whistles and some of the smaller Photoplayer
didn't have them all.
Thanks for any help I could get in this area.
