Hello MMD readers,
Reading all the recent articles in the MMD about the Welte that was
made for the Titanic but was not finished in time to sail on the maiden
voyage, just by chance I was reading an article in an old issue of "The
Music Box". That is the journal for the Music Box Society Of Great
Britain. In the Spring 1986 issue there is an article about mechanical
musical instruments made in the Black Forest. There is a color picture
of a Welte with the following caption: "A survivor of the ill fated
Titanic. Intended for the first class saloon this superb 250 pipe
organ orchestrion on display at Bruchsal was made by Welte in Freiburg.
Due to a delay in completion, the White Star Lines Flagship sailed many
years ago on its maiden voyage without the organ. It was acquired by
Jan Brauers."
There is a very good color picture of this Welte, I could copy it and
mail it to Jody or Robbie if there was any interest. I believe Bruchsal
is a castle with a mechanical musical collection. Could this be the
Welte we have been reading about or another one?

[ Lloyd, of course, Robbie and I would both like to see the picture
[ and share it with the group. However we'd need to get the publisher's
[ approval to scan and post it. I doubt that would be easy. Does
[ anyone know who to contact ? -- Jody
