FS: Instruments from Marsh L. Royster Estate
By Dave Brown

I was able to attend Marsh Royster's estate sale Aug 26th. Marsh, as
I understand, was a collector for many years and had collected items
for all those years. Three auctioneers were working at one time!

Three musical items caught my eye: Seeburg Nickelodeon, Chicago
Electric Nickelodeon, and a Reproduco player piano, pipe organ.
The Seeburg in good playing condition sold for $1250 with two A-rolls.

I was able to buy the Chicago Electric for $225, which after re-tubing
plays weakly and is out of tune. It is 99% complete, with mandolin
rail. Does anyone have info on this? Its art glass front reminds
me of Frank Lloyd Wright's work. It was originally located in Arizona.

The Reproduco is still available; if interested write me, it has to
be sold quickly, $1000 negotiable. Located in Michigan, needs lots of
work, has a very nice case.

I was also able to pick up a huge amount of vacuum tubing, tracker
bar size. The rolls are in 28" circles, like pancakes, glued together
(similar to the licorice rolls we got as children). Any ideas as to
who produced and packaged tubing like this? I have enough to keep me
going for life, as one roll re-tubed the nickelodeon!

Also I have two 65-note tracker bars; I'd like to sell one brand new.

I bought two Robo Typist roll mechanisms. One has a small electric
motor, with a cone to a sewing wheel drive which can vary the roll
speed. Has any one any info on this?

A few of the other buys: new pneumatic tambourine and castanets,
plus a Edric Roselli accordion to be used in an orchestrion.

Last question: Does any one have the names of the songs on
Clark Roll 1476? It is an A-roll.

It was a great auction and I met many new musical collectors.
