Hi MMD Readers, I am at a quandary. Help me out. I am restoring the
player mechanism in an 85 year old piano. The original pouch leather
of the secondary valves appears in excellent shape except that it has
gathered on the outside a tiny layer of what I call "grime".
I have decided not to replace the pouches, but would like to reseal
them with diluted rubber cement as I have done before on others.
I feel that I should clean the outside first before applying the
sealant but I don't know what to clean them with so not to ruin them.
You experts must not be unfamiliar with this situation, so what do
you suggest I do for cleaning? Looking forward to your inputs.
