The following is not fantasy but my personal account. I do not drink
alcoholic beverages or take any prescription or illicit drugs.
Yes there are ghosts in pianos too. I have had strange occurrences in
and around certain pianos that come into the shop. We had one square
grand that played itself at night a few times. No other piano sounds
like a square grand. Later another piano ghost also played the Wicks
pipe organ several times with no blower running.
We have one piano that brought that ghost in. It had come from a Gay
church (MCC) and the pianist and donor of the instrument was an older
gentleman who had died of AIDS a few years earlier. This rather
decorative piano's arrival caused the ghost to come out.
Before we knew he was there, an associate who was sleeping in the shop
was awakened by this ghost several times by either the organ or his
appearance sitting on the bed. He was always accompanied by the smell
of cigar smoke, and no one in the shop smoked cigars. We had a minis-
ter come and remove him. We thought he was gone, but he seems to just
be quiet for now.
When we moved several years ago, that piano was on the elevator totally
still when the piano just turned over while on the dolly. It was the
only piano that did that. I know it was the ghost, just letting me
know that he was still there. I still have the piano, and I talk to
the ghost every so often so he knows I am not afraid of him, and I
won't put up with anything from him. He is welcome to help out the
business. (They can do that.)
I suggest you talk to your lady ghost (she is always around the organ,
whether you can see her or not) and tell her your intentions with the
organ. You could threaten to destroy her organ if she frightens your
house guests again and they will probably never be bothered again. Let
her know that you are aware of her and she does not bother you and you
are not afraid. There is nothing she can or would do to harm you be-
yond giving you 'The Willies', and that can only happen if you let it.
Ghosts also inhabit statuary, according to a friend who used to go
looking for such objects. You can become aware of the ghost by looking
into the eyes of the statue, and if you suddenly feel light-headed or
momentarily dizzy, you know there is a spirit. That is what he used to
say.
Go ahead call me weird, you won't be the first. I collect player
pianos, don't I?
