Mouldy rolls
By Jeffrey Borinsky

Recent postings have discussed microwaving rolls to kill off all sorts
of nasties. The general consensus is that this is not a good idea.

I have occasional access to a high intensity gamma ray source, similar
to those used for irradiating food. Prompted by the recent discussion I
decided to try it on a couple of really mouldy rolls. The results were
excellent. The mould seems to have disappeared and the only side effect
is that I can now see to play these rolls in the dark ;}

I am not sure about long term effects. I would not be surprised to find
the paper getting brittle and the owner wanting lead lined underwear.
