This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Joyce Brite when she visited
her sister in San Francisco. Joyce very graciously brought with her
from Kansas the unique little sharpening tool she uses to sharpen arch
punches, and demonstrated her technique on one of my punches. She also
brought a photo album of her recent trip to Europe, so I got to see
photos Joyce took of some MMD'ers on the other side of the pond; Dan
Wilson, Jeffrey Borinsky, Julian Dyer and others, proudly showing off
their collections.
Joyce's sister was conducting a garage sale, and as an extra bonus, I
garnered some player organ rolls I thought might fit my Aeolian 1500,
which would be a rare and lucky find. Turns out they're a little wide
(10-3/8") and are probably 58 note rolls for the later Aeolian models -
the Grand and the Orchestrelle; but these will make good trading stock.
Thanks again Joyce, and it was a pleasure meeting you. This shows once
again how MMD is a terrific forum for exchanging knowledge, meeting
people who share common interests, and having someone to visit when you
travel away from home!
