Hi everyone. Fairly new MMD member Paul Mann and I have discovered
that we are both interested in trying to recreate the roll box labels
that are found on U.S. manufactured Angelus Melodant-Artistyle labels.
Tidying up a scan of the wavy green line that acts as the label border
is no problem. The Gothic-looking Angelus M-A script is tedious but
straightforward to clean up too. But behind all the printing on the
label is a pale green Wilcox and White logo (although they wouldn't
have called it that) of great complexity.
If all else fails I will scan all the roll labels that I have of this
type, because the overprinting doesn't always cover the same parts of
the logo, and try to put the logo together from all the different
little bits. Then I can cover it over again with black printing on
my own labels. I believe Paul has similar ideas.
However, it occurs to me that someone out there may have a copy of
the W & W emblem that is not heavily overprinted. If so, I'd be very
grateful for an e-mailed scan of it or a mailed photocopy and I reckon
Paul would too. It could save us many hours of tedium. (I suppose not
being so fanatical would too.)
Here's hoping,
John Phillips in Hobart, Tasmania.
