To Everyone: This is to advise you that the new Telarc recording of
the Ampico rolls of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Telarc 80489 ("A Window in
Time") has a 'street date' of August 25, 1998. That means that it will
not be available commercially before then. I suggest that you leave
your order with your local record outlet.
The network of "classical" (commercial or NPR) stations throughout the
country will have received by satellite an hour-long program I hosted
with Wayne Stahnke as guest. Frankly, it's a bit stodgy in presenta-
tion (at least to those who know my radio persona) but the important
thing is that about 45 minutes of the 55 is showcased in excellent
digital sound.
If you have doubts about the accuracy and verity of this recording,
this presentation will dispel them. I gar-on-tee! The satellite
transmission is scheduled for the same day as street date, Aug. 25,
and resent on Sept. 1. Your local outlet will probably schedule it for
broadcast in September. WCLV, the station of origin, has it slated for
early September, to be repeated later, dates to be determined.
The remaining 16 pieces of Chopin (5) including two never before
recorded (Nocturne, Op. 15, No. 1, F; and Scherzo No. 2, Op. 31, b-b),
Henselt, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Paderewski, Anton Rubinstein,
Schubert, Gluck-Sgambati is slated for release in March, 1999. It will
be Telarc 80491.

[ We've heard glowing reports from folks who have heard the advance
