Marches by E. T. Paull and Harry J. Lincoln
By Matthew Caulfield
I appreciate learning of the omissions from my lists of Lincoln and
Paull marches. Neither my, nor Jack Conway's, catalogs of Wurlitzer
150 music are indexed by composer. Nor is my 165 catalog or my 180
list; but both are small enough -- only about 2000 tunes -- that I
could go through and pick out the marches.
But the 150 listing is considerably larger; so I didn't go through
that. Also it fairly well parallels 125 roll production, which Mike
Grant has very thoroughly indexed by composer.
I don't know how, though, I could have omitted Paull's "The Burning
of Rome" unless I got it and its composer momentarily confused with
Lincoln's "Midnight Fire Alarm," which is similar in style and theme.
Comes from being so far from sources I can check my facts in -- and
from getting old?
