At a auction recently, being helpful to start the bidding, I raised my
hand and wound up with an Estey church organ for $50.
I thought I "had an albatross around my neck", as it had to be removed
at the end of the auction and I had no way to move it, and it is a
monster 6' x 6' solid oak and weighs a ton.
I did get it home and am rather proud of the thing. I know very little
about organs and maybe someone is up on these and can give me some idea
of what I have. Here is what I know about it:
Estey reed organ, S/N 43620, from a church in Helena MT. Solid oak
Mission-style, stained black. Vacuum operated, with crank on side,
with provisions for outboard pump. Has "fuel gage" for pumper.
6' x 6', two manuals, octave and manual coupling, removable foot
pedals, 15 stops, Great and Swell pedals: a pedal which "Pulls out
all the stops" (is that where this comes from?)
It is in excellent condition except that a couple of the stop knobs
are replacements and I don't have a crank or bench. Any info would
be welcome.
