Mermod Ideal 11 Inch Sublime Harmony Music Box
By Rick Cooley

Hi gang,

First of all, let me thank the members of the MMD, particularly
Douglas Henderson and Jack Conway for coming to my rescue on the
Unified Reproduco rolls request. Both Douglas and Jack gave me a
tremendous education about the Unified, its possible configurations
and the availability of rolls. Once again, members "saved the day"
by their generous and prompt responses.

But here is my latest request for help. I have a Mermod Ideal
interchangeable cylinder music box that uses 11 inch, 6-tune sublime
harmony cylinders. Each cylinder that fits this box is marked with a
number on the end and "S H". I am looking for the following cylinders,
all marked "S H" on the end:

    700, 706, 707, 709 thru 712, 716 thru 719, 721 and 724 thru 726.

In addition, customers were allowed to select any tune in Mermod's
inventory or select their own favorite tunes for their cylinders. In
this case, the number stamped in the end of the cylinder would fall
outside the usual range of SH-700 to SH-727 and might contain numbers
with four to six digits. Even with the larger "custom" numbers, the
cylinders still contain the stamped "SH". (Mermod produced many other
types of boxes with cylinders of the same size that would not fit our
tuning scale.)

I look forward to your responses. I have a large library of extra
disks for music boxes and rolls for "A", "O" and "G" . Maybe we can
swap or just purchase?

Now that I have found the rolls for the Unified Reproduco Mortuary
Organ, I am trying to complete it and fill up the huge side chest that
goes with this organ. Does anyone have a set of 16 foot (8 foot
stopped) wooden pipes for the Reproduco? With valve chest? How about
a set of Deagan chimes that was found with many of the original Unified
Reproduco organs?

Any help would be appreciated. I do plan to call Bob Maes after he
"recovers" from his recent fire loss but if I can find what I need
before that, so much the better.

With best regards and thanks for past help,

Rick and Betty Cooley
