Hi gang,
You may recall a recent request for information on a "strange" but
beautiful three-section "Wheatermeyer". This early nineteenth century
German three drawer (bottom), writing desk (middle) and barrel pipe
organ (top) with clock to play the barrel each hour is in the
possession of a friend who wishes to sell. After I knocked some of
the "dust" out of my ears, I realized that the piece was a "Biedermeier"
from German. Now that I know the correct spelling, is there anyone who
can tell me about Biedermeier furniture and this obvious custom
(perhaps, one of a kind) piece?. Can anyone steer me to a book(s)
that might be in the local library to bring me "up to speed" on
Biedermeier" furniture.
This piece is about 9 feet high and 4 feet wide and perhaps 30" deep.
I can send you a picture if you wish and can provide information.
Anyone have a feel for it's value?? I have never seen anything like
it. It is supposedly 1830 or so.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rick and Betty Cooley
