I've been a rather quiet member of this list for quite some time
now. Now that I'm speaking up, it's with rather mixed feelings for me.
It looks like I'll be "retiring" early and moving cross country so
I reluctantly have decided to sell at least part of my collection:
The items are in Rochester NY.
1. Chickering Parlor Grand (5'8") Ampico A. Older restoration by
Al Mueller which still plays very well. New hammers and belly cloth.
Original nice English Brown mahogany finish. 50 Ampico rolls (nice
ones) with piano. Asking $7500
2. Original mahogany Queen Anne Ampico roll cabinet. About 5-1/2 feet
tall. Truly excellent condition and rare. Still has original Ampico
decal on inside of door. Will give first choice to purchaser of
Chickering. $500
3. Marshall and Wendell upright Ampico A. Piano finish has been
stripped and most of components rebuilt (still out of piano). There
are a few small parts still to refurbish and piano must be put back
together and finished. An EXCELLENT project which is mostly done
(all the hard work, anyway). You pick up the piano. $1000 (way way
below my costs).
4. Fischer Ampico A upright, _fully_ restored, refinished. New
hammers, dampers. Plays super. A beautiful piece (mahogany).
With 50 Ampico rolls $4500
5. Many Ampico rolls in original boxes from my collection. Mix of
classical and popular. All in excellent condition. I would rather
sell these as one lot to a collector who would pick them up in
Rochester. Somewhere between 100 and 300 rolls (I have a lot of them
in controlled storage and will have to get them). No lists as I don't
have time to put one together but you'd be welcome to come and inspect
them. Again, I would give first preference to a piano purchaser.
Thanks for your consideration.
