Les Gets Festival
By Marc Kaufman

Twenty-five members of the Flying Pigs, led by Bob Yates and his wife
Diane, attended the Les Gets festival. We were specially acknowledged
by the mayor during the opening ceremonies, and the Star Spangled
Banner was played by Marc Fornier's Limonaire organ.

There were just enough organs to fill the town, so that you were never
out of earshot, but they didn't cover one another. The costumes and
additional entertainment were great. There were several automata
exhibits in the town hall, including both new and old automata.

About 30-40 small items (but valuable) were taken from the museum. The
description of the stolen items is on the web. There were tours of the
museum, and on Saturday almost everything was played for us.

Friday evening saw a parade of two bands, children dressed (and acting)
as automata, organ grinders and performance artists (have you ever seen
a 5-meter-high exercise wheel?, or a live version of one of those
"roly-poly" dolls)? Saturday night gave us a spectacular fireworks
show.

Next festival is in the year 2000.
