PowerRoll Demonstrated at AMICA Convention
By Joe Orens

Having had the opportunity of seeing, holding, and hearing the
PowerRoll at the AMICA Niagara Convention, I would like to share
my observations.

It is a very impressive, well engineered device. It was professionally
and enthusiastically demonstrated at AMICA by Gary Rasmussen and does
exactly what it is supposed to do -- enable a pneumatically controlled
instrument to sound great with a minimum of fuss. It requires a slight
bit of manual dexterity to install it for the first time on an
instrument, but that is it. Plug in a MIDI source and enjoy.

The MIDI source can be as simple or complex as you like -- a self
contained reader e.g. floppy or CD-ROM drive based or with the
appropriate hardware and software, a PC and play the instrument from
the computer keyboard. That is a great feature of the PowerRoll.

With its quality, capabilities, and introductory guarantee, I believe
that the automated musical Instrument community is being offered an
excellent device.
