Usually we take the summer off, but the unusual heat up in the
Northeast is pushing our vacation month forward a bit, what with
recordings, summer stock and stuff. I need some room still when
I get back here to the "back room" and want to generally mention,
that we will try to provide the sheet music to anyone "punching" or
"scanning" this summer.
The list of available pop hits goes back to 1820, and is now in the
20-30,000 title range. I have NOT published this as a database as
such, as it would be working like a bull in a China shop. I am hoping
that some of you will consider doing some E. T. Paull things. I will
continue to sign in on MMD to try to identify some of your own unnamed
rolls and things. My overload for space is just terrible right at this
time I want to offer to MMD first,
1. 1- Armstrong player -88 note - electrified rather poorly,
but in real nice structural condition. Will go at $1100.
2. 1- Kimball electro-***, the spinet sized (37" high) player with the
electrified (by the factory) player mechanism, horizontal on the upper
top left size -- nice condition and almost mahogany. Will need to be
adjusted a bit...and going at $1300
3. Many 88 note rolls, probably over 100, some seasonal. No list
right now.
4. Dozens of Play-Rite and Ampico titles, almost mint, and grab bag
type available.
5. Sheet music to use for roll making...just drop a note...a few $
a title and shipping.
The instruments, which also include a Rodgers three manual electronic
organ, model 320, not 321, ($900 takes that) are all in upstarts.
No reasonable offers refused on any of this, and of course will assist
from a distance for the remainder of the summer in telling you about
this, or arranging further information.
One of our members on MMD did send in a cassette to me, and I do not
have his return email, but the opening number on that band organ is
"They're Wearing Them Higher in Hawaii" (seems to have been an English
music hall arrangement similar to "You'll Have To Show It To Mother
Before You Show It To Me") -- which is now available of CD in some
obscure book shop in a text, almost un-labeled that does not mention that
there is a CD bundled inside the book, with some of these gems in it.
Email or fax is the best way to get to my family when we are in the
mountains, away from the heat here, and the fax is 518-732-1986, the
written address for forwarding is P.O. Box 1, Castleton, NY 12033-0001,
and of course the organization is The Backroom Piano.
Have a good one! (and don't forget those two players)
