I notice that a search for "player piano" in Yahoo does not lead me to
MMD. Has anyone ever tried to notify the search engines of our
existence? If not, I volunteer to do so.

[ Alta Vista logged the MMD Archives earlier this year, and we seem to
[ have excellent coverage there. Jody plans to overhaul the appear-
[ ance of our site first, and then he will send "submit" information
[ to the search engines. Incidentally, a high percentage of our new
[ subscribers discovered MMD via sites like Alta Vista. Thanks, Meta,
[ for your offer to help. -- Robbie

[ The MMD's Website has a name that sort-of breaks the standard
[ tradition of Website names. The MMD Website is hosted on a computer
[ who's name is: "mmd.foxtail.com" The technical reason for this is
[ so that the MMD's Website can be different from the Website for
[ my business. At one time its was possible to access the MMD
[ Website using "www.foxtail.com" even though it was not intended
[ to work that way. Regrettably several of the search engines
[ cataloged the MMD site incorrectly using "www.foxtail.com" instead
[ of "mmd.foxtail.com". The technical error that allowed the
[ MMD Website to be viewed via "www.foxtail.com" has been corrected
[ (for months), but the search engines are very slow to catch
[ up on the name change. What some of them have done is to discover
[ that the "www.foxtail.com" links don't work anymore, so they
[ are removing those links from their databases. The new links
[ (via mmd.foxtail.com) haven't been found by all of the Websites
[ yet.
[
[ I'm in agreement with Robbie that we want to finish the "facelift"
[ on the MMD Website before we actively submit it to lots of search
[ engines. Once we've done that, we'll be happy to get some help
[ submitting links.
[
[ In the meantime, those of you that have links to the MMD Website
[ that still reference "www.foxtail.com" should change their links
[ to:
[
[ http://mmd.foxtail.com/
[
[ Thanks,
[ Jody
