Jack Conway says:
> I had never heard of the ConcertMaster until last night.
I, too, saw the same performance. By chance, I also saw the unit for
the first time installed in a Baldwin grand here in Winnipeg at a
Spring Home Show at our Convention Centre. I inquired at the vendor's
booth (a local Baldwin Dealer) about this unit, who makes it, is it
available as a kit, etc.
Answer I got at the time was that it was an exclusive Baldwin
development, ordinarily installed in its own pianos only. Kits
available, but may only be installed in Baldwins by Baldwin dealers.
During the recent AMICA Convention in Niagara Falls, a point of great
interest was a tour of the QRS factory wherein we picked up a reprint
of a news article our of the March 1997 issue of Musical Merchandise
Review: "Baldwin, QRS Team Up on Computer-Controlled Piano".
The article indicates that Baldwin has entered into an agreement to
install the Pianomation system in its pianos under the exclusive brand
name of ConcertMaster.
We saw the complete system during our tour of the QRS plant which was
a great view of this fascinating "production museum", with much of its
production machinery from the turn of the century still in fine
reliable performance.
