Music Box Books

Perhaps the most recognized book from a historical perspective is
the renowned "The History of the Music Box and of Mechanical Music,"
written in French by Alfred Chapuis in 1955; translated into English by
MBSI member Joseph Roesch and republished by the MBSI in 1980 and 1992
(final printing).  Hard cover, 8.5 x 11", over 300 pages and over 300
photos/illustrations.  Covering the full gamut of mechanical music
instruments with technical and historical clarity.  Including glossary.
Currently available for $22.50 ppd. to MBSI members in the US.  Non-
members please add $10.  Foreign orders please write for mailing costs.
This is the quintessential book and is nearly out of print.  Please

Another book, devoted exclusively to cylinder music boxes is
"Cylinder Music Box Technology -- Including Makers, Types, Dating
and Music." Written by the esteemed engineer and music box global
authority Anthony Bulleid.  Soft cover, 8.5 x 5.5", 290 pages with
over 200 illustrations/ photos.  Including glossary.  An ultimate book
for the cylinder box enthusiast; with information not available in
any other book.  Available from the above MBSI address for $13.00 ppd.
to U.S. addresses.  Same price for non-MBSI members.  Non-US
addresses, add $4 for surface mail.  In its final printing.

There are also the many books by Arthur Ord-Hume that shed light on
the entire gamut of cylinder and disc musical boxes.
