Playing MIDI Piano Files on PC
By Spencer Chase

I have very little knowledge of sound on the PC. I would like to play
MIDI piano files on my computer and have them sound somewhat like a
piano. I have a sound card, but no software, that I understand, other
than the Win 95 media player.

What is the necessary minimum to get a decent sampled piano sound and a
sustain pedal? I imagine the pedal functions need to be implemented in
software or linked to some function on the sound card. I don't want to
replace my piano, I just want to get an idea of the music in the files.
