Pipe Gamma and Organ Scales
By Ingmar Krause

Hmmm?!? Well, if I understand what you say correctly, then it would be
the contrary of what I said: the pipes are not the dimension of Carl
Frei. 'Gamma' is for me just another word for 'scale' (more precisely
described below).

I just got a good translation : in English it would mean "passage",
which is to go through all of it once. This would fit perfectly,
cause what I call a Gamma is the Scale-Book going through the scale
key by key:

   - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
                   ---
                ---
             ---          ^->
          ---
       ---
    ---

Well, I know this, but I hope you recognize that I don't want to put
the picture of our "big one" into the net; perhaps I should have wrote
so. So, on having copyright of the image we do not give permission to
let it be put on a web site, also if you got it by me through (e)mail.

Seems I can't, 'cause you haven't told me which general form the scales
should have. I'm not going to send in just "scales" the way we own
them, its just too difficult to understand (and read ;-) )

Let's work out a format. Two ideas:

Idea 1 -- text based:
the scale starting with the instrument-data, for example:

Type: Raffin
Keys: 24 (Arrgh, bad example; this one is keyless ;)))

continuing with the notes (perhaps with the key number behind), e.g.:

d 20
c 19
a# 18
a 17
g 16
f 15
e 14
d# 13
d 12
c 11
a# 10
a 09
g 08
f 07
e 06
d# 05
d 04
C 03
A# 02
F 01

followed by the "specials" (with key-number ranges), e.g.:

01 - 03 Bass (Fagott)
04 - 09 Accompaniment
10 - 20 Melody (Registers)
20 - 24 Percussion (Wood block, Bells)

and if you want to make it perfect, it ends with the measures and the
run-through-speed (for I don't have it here right now. :)

(Data is missing)

Idea 2 -- MIDI-based:

A MIDI file starting with key 01 at the first 1/4-note, key 02 at the
second 1/4-note, and so on...

(I would have to create a "Raffin24.mid" file, but no time right now.)

Make it useful -- not just archiving stuff !

[ Jody will have a web site ready for music roll scales in a few days.
[ When the Typ Limonaire, the "Big One is finished I hope you will
[ send us a photo which we can place at the MMD web site. Will you
[ be in the photo, Ingmar, turning the crank? :-) -- Robbie
