Does anyone know of a comprehensive reference (online or not) for organ
pipe design. I have built several ranks of wooden pipes using Wurlitzer
notes. I worked (cutting rolling gluing and casting) for six months
(1959) for George Kilgen (Organ builder in St. Louis) and have some
notes on his pipe design dimensions. I have built a few ranks of chimney
flutes by guess and experimentation. I've reconstructed (by
extrapolation) missing pipes in several organs. I've recently traveled
through Europe looking at organs (with tape measure in hand).
In all this time I have yet to discover any comprehensive reference on
this subject.
I have a wind table and woodworking equipment, so I can readily proceed
by guess and by golly. I'd rather not reinvent the wheel, but I'm ready
to try. I understand the Physics but recognize that pipe design is an
art and am looking for some clues to save time.
If any of you have a favorite reference for pipe construction please let
me know.
