Hi John! Welcome aboard on the MMD!

Well, of course I'm willing to learn. ;-)
Nevertheless, I know of a 48-key-scale. Maybe it's a shortcut of
the 52-key Limonaire Scale (we do call our organ "Typ Limonaire",
but it is Dutch).
With time I've seen 3 organs of the 48-key scale that are alike ours
(but not the same -- organ-builder people seem to be mixing up
registers to make it more complicated to exchange the music) and since
we got a lot of music, there must be more of them.
I've been telling about our other organ quite some time ago here in the
MMD. It now has a 66-key-scale based upon the 48-key-scale I've been
talking of, with additional 13 Tegenzang (counter-melody) and more
registers.
I gladly can announce that this organ is now in an acceptable shape and
will have the first real travels throughout Europe this year. I just
have to make the front a little better-looking, hiding the mechanics...
I remember, someone wanted a picture? Well, have to do this little
work on it and then we'll have to take a new picture of it. To scan
the picture then is the easiest and fastest of the work to do. :)))
Drop me a note, if you want one.
I remember we've been talking about Carl Frei. The organ has been to
Jan van Eyk for some of the repair. Some of you know him for sure. He
said, that there's not a bit of Carl Frei in our organ (been talking
about measures, e.g., of pipes).
BUT -- and this is the interesting part, especially 'cause we are
talking about this right now -- it would be Gamma Carl Frei. To get
"back to the roots": could the 48-key-scale also be by Carl Frei?
(I know that the Limonaire-Scale is upside-down to ours.)
[ "Gamma" is a parameter which describes how the ratios of the
[ pipe dimensions change with the pitch/frequency. -- Robbie
We just re-found the original gamma of the scale we have now on the
66er. There's a Dutch word on it, that I do understand, but makes no
real sense to me, perhaps someone can help me out there: "DOORLOOP"
[ A loop of rope, to pull shut the door? :) Or perhaps it's from
[ French: "Loupe d'or". Maybe Jan Kilstra and Hans van Oost know.

Hmm ... Although we know a lot, it seems we are a little away from the
Dutch scene. :-) Not a very nice feeling to miss some basic info ...

Well, tell us a good format for the display of scales and tell the MMD
to send everything in. The snag will be the naming of the scales, so
that you needn't find and just sort out double send-ins. ... But, well,
you have to look at all of them then anyway, 'cause, as I just told
you, there are also differences in the "same" scale.
Happy to have a topic where I can add some stuff. ;-)
