Wurlitzer Band Organ Model Numbers
By Tommy Forney

I wonder if anyone can recommend a way to get a handle on the model
numbers of Wurlitzer Band Organs. Bruce Pier gave a good talk at the
National Carousel Association's Technical Conference in Pittsburgh in
March in which he ran down most of them with a slide show and a tape of
each organ in sync. Were the lower numbers like 105, etc. lesser
models and 153's more elaborate?

Another question: did the Artisan Factory make drums or would they have
bought drums from Wurlitzer, or was there another company that made
drums for them both? We need a 14" snare for our Artisan A-2 organ and
I'm wondering how hard it will be to find one with the simple right
angle hoop like is on our 8 x 20" bass drum. In other words it has
about a half inch of surface parallel to the drum head and the same
amount perpendicular. Not the wide, flat hoops of wood and metal that
some fancier drums have. Maybe we can start a drum thread if anyone's
interested.
