Three weeks ago I could purchase a Street Piano which I would like to
get more information about. I went through the MMD archives but I could
not find information but about toy street pianos.
Obviously the piano is an Italian make. It is signed at the lower front
side with
CESA CARLO / NOVARA
and has an ornate signature on the top, reading C E C (where the first C
is mirrored to the left). The barrel plays 10 tunes, unfortunately the
tune sheet is missing. The piano plays five full octaves (not yet, first
I have to do quite some restoration).
At the top of the show side it shows in the middle a nice framed colour
picture of a chapel in a rural scenery, left and right of it there are
coulered reliefs of two angels playing trumpets and holding a lyra plus
a man kneeing down and playing a lute.
Could anybody give me some indication when it was built? Whether it`s a
rare instrument or not? What's about the value of today? Could I find
any literature on it?
