In response to John Tuttle's entry in MMD 980521, I have a few comments.
I truly believe that MMD is a valuable resource that I enjoy reading
and contributing to whenever possible. I look upon it primarily as a
teaching forum, which is why I contribute primarily when I have some
technical information to add, but usually avoid opinion entries (this
one is the only exception to date).
On the other hand, our editors put a lot of time and effort into this
undertaking and therefore should have the right to have some control
over republication. It would not be too difficult to imagine that
without any controls at all, there could be a frivolous lawsuit
sometime in the future in this litigious society of ours, although off
the top of my head I can't imagine how. (Then again, who would ever
imagine someone suing McDonald's, and winning, when they spilled hot
coffee in their own laps!)
With these thoughts in mind, I respect MMD's rights to restrict
republication. With this entry, I also give blanket permission for
anyone to use any entry I have ever or will ever make to MMD in any way
that Robbie gives approval for.
Keep up the great work!
