John Tuttle's post about copyrighted material in the MMD was very
interesting. In some of the posts that I have done in the past, people
from various organizations and associations have written me and asked
if they could use my material. I agreed because as I stated months ago
I feel that the purpose of this "group" is the sharing of information.
When the request was for publication, I "re-wrote" the post, often
times adding more details to it. I have never seen a size restriction
in the MMD as to length of posts, but I do try to keep them short or
break them up into sections, i.e., the Wurlitzer factory posts.
If someone took one of my posts out of the MMD and did not have the
courtesy to ASK if they could publish it in print media, (book, flyer,
bulletin, etc.) I would be flattered as John indicated in his post.
The fact that the person who "lifted" the article for publication did
not ask my permission would slightly sour my day.
