Several subscribers to MMD have asked me about the music that will be
available for the PowerRoll(tm) (patent pending), my new product that
enables any pneumatic automatic instrument to play digital data files,
in addition to the traditional paper rolls.

I have focused my attention first on a library for Ampico instruments.
I got in touch with Wayne Stahnke, who has a large number of transcrip-
tions of Ampico rolls which he agreed to make available on CD-ROM to
purchasers of the PowerRoll.  Wayne will make 450 Ampico roll images
available on a single CD-ROM for only $59.50 to purchasers of the
PowerRoll.

This collection contains a large number of the finest "B" and "A"
classical and popular performances from the Ampico library.  It
includes not only many medley rolls and virtuoso performances by such
pianists as Lhevinne, Ornstein, Levitsky, Moiseiwitsch, etc., but also
many beloved popular artists: Adam Carroll, Zez Confrey, Victor Arden
and many others.  It is doubtful if ever so much superb recorded music
was available for so low a price, anywhere.

Among the 450 roll images is the entire set of 35 rolls played by
Sergei Rachmaninoff.  Wayne transcribed these rolls for his recent
transfer of all of Rachmaninoff's rolls to audio CD that will become
available in July (on the Telarc label).  Some of the Rachmaninoff
rolls are extremely rare, so this provides a unique opportunity for
an Ampico owner to hear any or all of them.

The excellent selection of Ampico music now available is another reason
why every Ampico owner should have a PowerRoll, which can be purchased
