Harvey Roehl called me last night to tell me about the release of his
new Gavioli cassette and CD. He announced that Dave Miner is the new
owner of what was Marion Roehl Recordings.
As for the Gavioli release, which will be Harvey's last, he feels that
it is his best band organ effort yet. The Roehl Gavioli was recently
equipped with MIDI interface, and Harvey commissioned the talented Tom
Meijer of Holland to arrange 22 tunes from the pre-1923 period "in a
very jazzy, upbeat American style." Harvey is extremely pleased with
the end result, as well as with the economies of MIDI-based arranging.
