Hi Walt, I have the set of Gulbransen Instruction rolls too. Number 1
is 'Teaching Proper Use of Accenting Levers'. My set have a wine
coloured box, red metal flanges, and this information on the label.
'Gulbransen - The Registering Piano'
Instruction Roll No.1
Teaching Proper Use of Accenting Levers
Fourth Edition
Martin Method
<C> Gulbransen Company, 1923
Patented Jan. 27, 1925.
This roll has diagrams of finger positions for holding the controls,
diagrams of the tracker bar, and more instructions, all printed in
green ink. They contain classic, traditional, and modern (i.e., Ardnt's
'Nola') excerpts with instructions for interpretation. I've found them
quite useful, and the same principles would no doubt apply to all
players.
