"The General", Paul Torin's Wurlitzer 164
By Bob Conant

In Digest 980505 George Bogatko said in his comment regarding Paul
Torin's Wurlitzer 164:

> Undoubtedly the new owner got bored with the same roll over and over
> and never quite figured out how to change it -- but it sure looked
> pretty. (Maybe it was painted flamingo pink).

According to the record jacket, the organ was painted red, white and
blue plus gold and the central figure (bandmaster) was carved in the
shape of Uncle Sam. The Uncle Sam was not actually located in the
middle but on the right hand side of the organ. It also quotes Paul
Torin as saying that they had 25 rolls at that time so there should
have been plenty of music with it.
