Hi everyone! Robbie asked if I can supply MIDI files and a roll to
someone who could test this. It would be interesting to see how a
PianoDisc or a Disklavier and Pianomation would respond, compared to
a pneumatic system. Of course the player used for the test should be
in top shape or the test would be meaningless.
[ Well, to be fair, so should the solenoid piano! :) -- Robbie
Not only did I test Tempola titles, but also the QRS recuts and QRS
rolls and MIDI files of the same song. Comparing the pneumatic system
to the solenoid unit showed that the pneumatic system it a bit more
responsive in every case.
I think that Larry Broadmoore may have created the ideal unit, MIDI
operating Pneumatic. It would be very interesting to play these same
files on his unit and note how the MIDI files respond on the pneumatic
system, verses MIDI files played on a solenoid unit. How about it,
Larry?
I would suspect that his unit would play the piano as good as the roll,
especially if the MIDI valves open up large ports when operating. And
you do not need to modify your piano to attach it!
I would also to remind everybody that the Tempola chatroom works well
and would like to again invite everyone interested to join us. We can
talk about this and more. This chat room is a freebie, but I am
seriously considering the "pro" version which has more features. We
meet on Monday night, 8 CST at

John Tuttle, Jon Page, Sam Harris, and Gabe T. Della Fave and others
have dropped by. We have had a great time.
Best Regards
