Colin Hinz inquired about mechanical music events in the Twin Cities
(St. Paul/Minneapolis) area. For sure, the Festival Organ exhibit at
the Science Museum in St. Paul is world class. Rarely does a subject
(in this instance organs) receive the type of acclaim in such a
magnificent display.
In conjunction with the exhibit, there are free organ concerts several
times per week at noted churches and cathedrals in the area. Then, on
Sunday, May 31, from noon -- 5:00, the Musical Box Society Snowbelt
Chapter will be hosting an organ rally and music box exhibit at Como
Park.
I would be pleased to answer any questions about the rally. We also
invite anyone who has a band organ or crank organ to join us for this
festive event.
The Schubert Club also has a modest exhibit of mechanical music at
their museum at Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul. There are some
members of the MBSI in the Twin Cities area. If anyone is in the area,
they would be welcome to visit our collection. While not world class,
my any means, we have some interesting and fun items we are always
happy to share. We live just 20 minutes north of St. Paul and 30
minutes from the Megamall in Bloomington.
