I've just got back after a few days away, so my apologies for
entering this discussion late. Gary Stevenson wrote:

It's a great idea! The Fair Organ Preservation Society published an
index of its quarterly magazine, The Key Frame, some time ago and that
might be usefully added to your work. Get in touch with your postal
address, please, and I will send you a copy.
I will also take a little time to scan it and publish on our web
site in due course; I will let you all know when it's available:

The magazine has been going in one form or another for the best part of
40 years!

With the original document in Arial or some other simple sans serif
font the results are startling. Serif fonts, whilst easy for a human
to read, are more difficult for a machine. I use OCR a lot and the old
"blobby" typewriters are the worst; still viable, though, just
time-consuming.
Most recently we have used PageMaker 5 for the file we send to the
printers and a lot more of previous articles are already available in
electronic format, too, mostly in Word 6, and before that in SmartWare
II which can be converted easily. I suppose I could get everything I
have into text format or whatever within a month or so. I would have
to clear copyright, though, and that could take for ever!
