Thanks to Ed Gaida for his note from the QRS 1922 Catalog (and quite a
few other interesting notes lately). I've never seen that inscription
on a QRS item before. What makes this stand out for me is that I have
original copies of six of the 8-page bulletins mentioned.
"Since the sales records and your orders show the one thousand
titles which you are continually selling and re-selling, we have
arranged ten classified bulletins of specially selected Player Rolls
to list these 1,000 numbers. The rolls listed in these ten
classified bulletins will give the player piano owner the best
selections in the music world in their respective classes."
The bulletins are 4-1/2" x 7", in dark blue ink on off-white paper, and
each has a different border pattern on the cover page. Each bulletin
has a photograph and biography of a well-known roll artist on the back.
The bulletins I have are:
A Selected List of QRS Blue Bird Ballads (with Lee S. Roberts)
A Selected List of QRS Player Rolls from Operas
(with Claude Debussy and Enrique Granados)
A Selected List of QRS Standard Waltzes (with Ossip Gabrilowitsch)
A Selected List of QRS Story Rolls (with Leopold Godowsky)
A Selected List of QRS Heavy and Light Classics
(with Ignaz Jan Paderewski)
A Selected List of QRS Sacred Music (with Joseph Lhevinne)
Each of the latter 3 mentions "See QRS Concert Series List for ____'s
recordings" so there's the 7th of 10 bulletin titles. Has anyone seen
any of the other bulletins?
