I received catalogs from the two big spring sales: Milhous in Florida
and Murphy in Kentucky. Though both around $25.00, the Milhous catalog
is the better buy (about 80 pages versus 12 for the Murphy sale). The
Milhous sale is, perhaps, the first with 3 Hupfeld Phonolists (though
one is a Wendel reproduction). It also has one of Siegfried's Maesto
copies (called a "Maestro" by the catalog).
An inquiry to Sotheby's (the Milhous auctioneers) confirmed the fact
the "everything" in the sale has a reserve plus a 15% premium. The
Murphy sale, though crudely cataloged, has no reserves and no buyer's
premium. Should be a good experiment to see which brings the higher
prices.
By the way, Matthew Caulfield, the Murphy sale catalog does list
Wurlitzer 165 rolls, but not how many will be offered.
