Welte _Original_ Reproducer Grand Tubing Diagrams. For most professional
rebuilders of Welte reproducer grands, they prefer to have ones that
use the Licensee mechanisms for which there is an abundance of precise
tubing diagrams. Even though we have successfully rebuilt just about
every type of mechanical music device , we have failed, on two Welte
_original_ grands, to (1) properly tube the two expression (treble and
bass) mechanisms and the two associated "1-6" lock and cancel blocks
with "88" note roll cutout and (2) the "roll-reroll" connection to the
distribution block (containing the stack cutoff) under the piano need
the pedal lyre.
I have the original service manual (which does not have a detailed
tubing diagram) which has been quite helpful, but, unless a person is a
rocket scientist, forget it, as I have had to do. The old, wise trick
of tracing each old tube before you replace it does not work when the
original tubes have crumbled into black dust.
So please help! The pastor of our church has purchased our magnificent
(case) Welte _Original_ Reproducer Grand, knowing it was 97% completely
restored. It actually plays Welte rolls but with no expression. Is
there anyone who can furnish a "homemade tubing diagram", at least of
the expression mechanism to signal blocks? Also information on the
block that contains the stack cutoff during reroll would be great.
Mark Reinhart, down in West Virginia, is renowned as an expert on all
types of Weltes. Mark, you said if I got in trouble, just yell. Well,
I am yelling... Any others who can furnish information will receive
one free prayer on your behalf from our pastor, I am sure. Thanks
guys.
