Barry Grey has just joined us at MMD and has lots of questions about
QRS artist J. Lawrence Cook. Here's how to find the discussions
which appear in previous Digests.
1. Connect with your web browser to the Mechanical Music Digest home
page at http://mmd.foxtail.com and scroll down to the section, "Check
out our Archives". Click on this link.
2. When the Archives page comes up, click on the link, "1998 Q1", to
see the index of the recent Digest articles. Under the "Edit"
pull-down menu in your browser should be "Find", so enter "Cook"
(without parens) and search for the name in all the titles of the
articles. Beginning with Digest 980211 are several articles about J.
Lawrence Cook.
3. The index is a few weeks behind, so to see the most recent Digests
click on "Look here for un-indexed Digests from February". This link
takes you to the FTP site at
ftp://mmd.foxtail.com/pub/mechanical-music/digests/98.02
4. Go back to the MMD home page and click on "Cross-Referenced MMD
Archives", and when the page comes up click on "Keyword Index". The
top-level index is just a single letter; click "C". Then all of the
'C' words will be presented and you scroll down until you find "Cook",
and click on that word.
Three articles appear: one is "Wurlitzer Centennial Cook Book", but
the other two are about J. Lawrence Cook, including a fine overview
contributed by Jan Kijlstra in Holland!
Thanks to MMDer Bob Fitterman for all his work on the indexed
Archives.
