Hi! I found out about the MMD from Dr. Don C. Elbers, a longtime
friend of mine who has finally pulled me into the 20th century. As
I tell people, I was waiting for Mr. Edison to come out with a
hand-cranked computer!
Don and I have worked together on many things over the past few
years, including a Wurlitzer 105 in New Orleans City Park, (which
unfortunately isn't currently operable), and I work with him servicing
the calliopes on the steamboats Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen, and
the American Queen on the river here in Greater New Orleans Area.
I'm also good friends with his father Kurt Elbers, a longtime
collector, who has taught me much and given me my love of these
instruments for the music they make.
I've been restoring mechanical musical instruments for about fifteen
years as Polyhymnia Musical Restorations. I look forward to learning
more from all of you. Thanks.
Mr. Berley Antoine Firmin II.
[ Welcome to MMD, Berley. I'm sure Jody told you that he's a
[ calliope fan, and I am too! I hope I can visit New Orleans
[ someday and hear your steam pianos. -- Robbie
