More Player-Piano Tunes To Hear on the Web
By Karl Ellison

I put up more tunes recorded from my piano onto my web site today
(URL below):

 ~~~ Dance Music ~~~
  o "All By Myself" QRS #1456 - p/b Max Kortlander
    - Nice tune, but with a dissonant base.
      Why'd Max do this? (A: Because he could)
  o "Humming" QRS #1376
     - Snappy tune that'll put pep in your step!
  o "You Ought To Be In Pictures" PlayRite #201 - p/b Adam Carroll
     - ... with that typical Carroll lush-sounding orchestration.
  o "My Blue Bird Was Caught In The Rain" Atlas # 4090
    - Great danceable/singable '20's tune
  o "Bees Knees"  Jewel #4140
    - Did this song kick-off this popular phrase, or vice versa?
     This quirky novelty tune is evocative of the 1920's ...
     back-to-back rich chords and constant progressive modulation (or
     so it seems).
  o "Thank Your Father" Klavier #2220 - p/b Adam Carroll
     - Picture Adam playing this for you at your next cocktail party!
  o "I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate" QRS #2027
     - p/b Pete Wendling - 'Gotta love that Wendling bass!
     This tune also reissued note-for-note on QRS Q-316.
  o "Ukulele Lady" Pianostyle # 24096
     - Takes you back to the Hawaiian Craze of the early '20's without
     overdosing the listener with a heavy mandolin orchestration
  o "Hallelujah (from 'Hit the Deck')" US #44389
    - *Very* upbeat and tasteful dance tune.
  o "Charleston Rag" Ampico #54174E  pb Eubie Blake
    - Played by Eubie as only a Eubie Blake song can be played.  Don't
      confuse this with "The Charleston" or you'll be disappointed.
  o "Black Bottom" PlayRite # 402-A
     - A rich ragtime 2-step about the color of a river's bottom.
  o "So Beats Me Heart" (I think) Atlas #07608
     - Unmarked roll, but a winner fox-trot. Great orchestration!
  o "Lights and Shadows" QRS # 80628  pb Lee S. Roberts
    - Another piece from L.S. Roberts full of harmonics, split
     bass chords and modulation you'll feel up your spine.
 ~~~ Classical Music ~~~

  o "Chopin's 'Black Key' Etude" 88-Note # 2042
    - Got the big applause when I heard it performed at Boston Symphony
      Hall. I play it at the tempo I heard it performed .. wow!
  o "Dinner Music #8" Ampico # 67653-H pb Milton Delcamp
     - Includes: "The Love Nest", "Gypsy Love Song", "Wildflower",
     "Peg 'o My Heart", "If Love Were All", "I'm Just Wild About Harry"
     So lively, you'll forget about dinner!
