This year the Fundacion Teresa Carreno, which manages the Complejo
Cultural Teresa Carreno, one of the greatest music halls in
Latin America, celebrates twenty years.
The Fundacion Vicente Emilio Sojo, the national musicological institute
of Venezuela, that I preside over, arrives also at twenty years of
continuos activity. These two foundations are departments of the
Consejo Nacional de la Cultura (the National Cultural Council of
Venezuela).
This year we are organizing together the Ninth Latin-American Teresa
Carreno Piano Competition, to celebrate our common anniversary, which
will be held in Caracas from September 27 to October 4, 1998. We are
also interested to do a commemorative CD with the piano music of Teresa
Carreno, but we don't have the rolls (and also not the pianola), and we
are looking for them to do this record.
We don't know what must we do, because we don't know where to find the
rolls, and if the owners are interested in participating in this
project. Mr. Dan Wilson of the Friends of the Pianola Institute of
London gave us your e-mail, suggesting asking you if you can help us in
this matter, and in what conditions. Could you do this? Thank you for
your attention.
With all good wishes,
Juan Francisco Sans.

[ The bulk of Carreno's music rolls were recorded for Welte, and
