I am Mark Reinhart. I have been collecting mechanical music since I
was six years old. My folks have had a player piano as long as I can
remember. When I was 17 I had enough money for a piano or a car.
I bought a piano. A little Apollo (Art Echo) grand. I discovered
I liked the rolls based on Welte-Mignon rolls best. In college a
collection of almost 300 Welte-Mignon T-100 (red) rolls came my way
and I was consumed.
My primary interest is in all things "Welte." I have a 2/6 Welte-
Philharmonic organ with a 10-roll changer and more rolls than I care
to think about, a 7' Steinway-Welte T-100 scale "red" roll piano (about
900 rolls), and a Charles M. Stieff Welte-Mignon Licensee piano (about
500 rolls). Both pianos are restored and the organ midway restored.
Can you say "obsessive-compulsive"?
If you, too, feel the same, e-mail me at jimandmark@geocities.com

[ A belated and hearty Welcome to MMD, Mark. Your note lay forgotten
[ in the rollreq "in-basket"; I'm glad that you wrote to remind us.
[ I've heard your name often in conversations about Welte instruments,
[ and I'm pleased that you've joined us here. Hope you'll write more
[ about your fine collection. -- Robbie
