John van Kleef asked about American Theater Organ Books. I believe he
is referring to David L. Junchen's multi-volume Encyclopedia set: The
American Theater Organ Vol. I, II, III.
Volume I covers Aeolian Company to M. P. Moller, Inc. It is 432 pages
and all photos are in black and white. Copyright 1985.
Volume II covers L. D. Morris & Co. to Wm. Wood Pipe Organ Co., Inc. and
has sections on parts suppliers to the organ industry. It continues
through page number 950. It has one color photo; the rest are black and
white. Copyright 1989
Dave's untimely death occurred before Volume III was printed, although
he had prepared the material for it. It was taken over at this point by
Preston Kaufmann, who decided to correct and expand the material that
Dave left.
Volume III was to be totally devoted to The Wurlitzer Company and
include an Opus listing. The revisions caused a lengthy delay in
publication and when it was finally released the Opus list was not
included. This volume is 448 pages and all photos are black and white.
Copyright 1995.
If I remember correctly the plan now is to release a Volume IV and V to
complete the Wurlitzer story.
