Dear Mark,  The Mechanical Music Center was in Darien, Connecticut
(I believe) it was owned by William (Bill) Edgerton.  His office manager
(for lack of his personal title) was Fran Mayer, who eventually
purchased the business from Bill; he is probably the person you were
thinking of.  Fran ran the business until his retail sales of these
instruments collapsed.

Fran occasionally attends a meeting of The East Coast Chapter of the
Musical Box Society or the Lady Liberty Chapter of AMICA when he gets
the opportunity.  He is living in Connecticut at the present time but is
not in the business of mechanical musical instruments.  I don't know if
he is on line or a member of MMD.
